Experience the unique flavors of spring with our Deadnettle Honey, harvested from the hives at Riverview Road Apiary in Chillicothe, Illinois.
This distinctive honey has a lovely, delicate character with a subtle hint of mint that emerges at the very end of each taste. It's a gentle, refreshing finish that makes this honey particularly memorable.
Curious about what gives this honey its unique character, we sent a sample to Penn State's Honey and Pollen Diagnostic Lab for analysis.
The results revealed that deadnettle, a member of the mint family, was the most abundant identified plant genus at 20%. Other prominent plants included stone fruit trees, clover, mustard, dandelions, redbuds, dogwoods, and Virginia bluebells.
These findings offer a fascinating glimpse into the diversity of spring flowers visited by our honeybees throughout Central Illinois.
Pure Honey, Naturally Unique
Nothing is added to create the delicate mint finish. It is a naturally occurring characteristic of this particular harvest.
Every honey harvest tells a story about the season, the landscape, and the flowers available to our bees. Our Deadnettle Honey is a wonderful example of how the local environment can influence the character of honey.
Enjoy a taste of spring in Central Illinois, straight from our hives to your table.
