Honeybee Hive Removal

Riverview Road Apiary has been offering professional hive removal from properties for a decade. Here’s how our process works:

Free Swarm Removal

  • If you spot a swarm (a cluster or ball of bees), we can remove it free of charge.

Established Hive Removal (Cutout Service)

  • If bees have created a hive within a structure, this requires a cutout process for removal.

Fees and Charges

  1. Initial Inspection Fee: $50

    • This fee covers our visit to assess the hive and plan the removal.
  2. Base Cutout Cost: Starting at $400 for a 4-hour removal process.

    • If additional time is required, each extra hour is $100.
    • Additional equipment, like scaffolding, will incur extra fees.
  3. Poisoned Hives: If bees or honey have been poisoned, there may be extra charges to offset costs.

Post-Cutout Information

  • Structural Repairs: While we safely remove the colony, we do not repair walls or other areas we cut into.
  • Prevention: After removal, it’s essential to treat the area with a product like Kilz to seal odors and then insulate it with fiberglass insulation (pink) to prevent future infestations. Do not use foam or paper insulation—bees can chew through these materials.
  • Sealing the Entry Point: The hole where bees entered should also be sealed to avoid new colonies from moving in.

Bee Relocation

Once removed, the bees are taken to a bee farm, where they are properly cared for and managed.
